The numbers
Why is my taxido rate lower than the 30% everyone quotes?
Because the usual advice ignores two deductions you almost certainly get: half your self-employment tax comes off your adjusted gross income, and the Section 199A pass-through deduction takes 20% off your qualified business income. Rules of thumb skip both and tell you to over-save. Taxido applies them, so its figure is usually a few points lower — and closer to what you actually owe.
Why does it show no income tax at all on a small profit?
The standard deduction is $16,100 for a single filer in 2026. If your profit after expenses is below that, there is no federal income tax to pay. Self-employment tax still applies from the first dollar, which is why the figure is not zero.
My state is not calculated exactly. Why?
Twenty-four states either have no income tax or a single flat rate, and Taxido computes those exactly. The other twenty-six, along with the District of Columbia, have graduated brackets that the app does not yet model. Rather than guess — modelling California from its 13.3% top rate would be badly wrong for almost everyone — the app asks you for a rate and marks the result as an estimate you supplied.
If you do not know your rate, last year's state return divided by your taxable income is a reasonable starting point.
Can I trust this enough to file from it?
No, and it is not meant for that. Taxido tells you what to hold back through the year so the bill is not a shock. Filing is a different job with different requirements, and it should go through tax software or an accountant.
Using the app
Where is my data?
On your device, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. See the privacy policy.
I got a new phone. How do I move my entries?
Usually you do nothing. Your phone's own backup — iCloud on iOS, your Google account on Android — includes Taxido's data, so restoring a new phone from that backup brings your entries with it.
When that route is not available, most often because you moved between iPhone and Android, open Settings → Moving to a new phone and save a backup file. Put it wherever you like — Drive, iCloud, email to yourself — then restore from it on the new device. The file never passes through us; we would not know how to read it if it did, because we have no server for it to arrive at.
Can I edit an entry?
Yes. Tap any entry in the Entries tab to change its amount, label, category, or date.
Does it track mileage?
No. Mileage tracking means background GPS, which means a permission we would rather not ask for and battery use you would rather not spend. Log the deduction as an expense instead. If automatic mileage is central to your work, Hurdlr does that well and we would rather tell you so.
Subscription
What happens when my trial ends?
The figures lock, but nothing is deleted. Your entries are still there, and unlocking brings them straight back.
How do I cancel?
In your App Store or Google Play account settings, the same as any other subscription — we cannot cancel it for you from our side. For web purchases, the receipt email links to your subscription.
Can I get a refund?
App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded under Apple's and Google's policies. For web purchases, write within 30 days and we will refund you, no argument.
Why a yearly price instead of monthly?
Tax is an annual cycle. Constants change each January, and a year of access covers a full filing season. A monthly plan would cost you more over the same period and give you nothing extra.
Something is wrong
If a figure looks wrong, tell us. Include your gross income, expenses, filing status and state — never a screenshot with anything you would not want in an email — and we will work through the arithmetic with you. If the app is wrong, we will fix it and say so in the release notes.
Accessibility
The app supports system text sizing, screen readers, and both light and dark appearance. If something is hard to use with assistive technology, that is a bug worth reporting and we will treat it as one.
